What import duty and VAT apply to door handles shipped to Egypt?

Architectural hardware imported into Egypt is subject to 14% VAT on the CIF value plus customs duty, with the duty rate set by HS code under the Egyptian Customs Authority tariff. Two pre-shipment steps decide whether your consignment clears: an ACID number must be raised on the Nafeza single window and mirrored by the exporter on CargoX at least 48 hours before the vessel loads — since October 2021 for sea freight and from 1 January 2026 for air freight, cargo without an ACID on the bill of lading is rejected on arrival — and, for regulated finished goods, the manufacturer must be entered in the GOEIC importers' registry under Ministerial Decree 43/2016 before the goods ship. Which Egyptian port should our shipment come through?

Alexandria and El Dekheila handle most general cargo for Cairo, Giza and the Delta; Port Said East and Damietta serve the canal corridor; and Ain Sokhna is the usual gateway for the New Administrative Capital and Red Sea projects, with El Gouna served from Safaga and Hurghada. Your ACID number must be raised on Nafeza before the vessel loads, whichever port you use.

Pricing is quoted per item against your actual door schedule rather than as a package rate, so the figure moves with door count, finish and handing. Freight, duty and VAT are additional and depend on your port and HS classification.

Can you work to an architect's or interior designer's specification?

Yes — that is most of what we do. Send the specification, the finish schedule and the handing, and we manufacture to it. Yes.
